Notepad++ is my default editor and use for all my web developing coding needs. Apart from it being open source and totally free to use, this handy little program packs a lot of punch in terms of features and functions however far less when compared to bigger software’s such as Dreamweaver. However Notepad++ in my opinion definitely has its stronger points. For example the learning curve for something like Dreamweaver is huge and very complex to the point I spend most my time trying to figure out how to do something rather than actually doing it. Also working with tools like Dreamweaver tends to make me a lazy and sloppy programmer as its does a lot of the stuff for you but never to the standards you would get if you would of done freehand with something like Notepad++.

So personally for me the sleek and simple functionality of Notepad++ is king and I would recommend it for any web developer whether it being a fresh new face or years old veteran.

Notepad ++

Works great when used to make Web pages in HTML. Elements, attributes & values are color coded when all characters are entered correctly. If you forget an " or put a + instead of = the color remains black until the problem is corrected. I have been taking intro a class on building Web pages and NotePadd++ is what we are using as our editor. It also works well for CSS. It will save document in many other forms and is much easier to word with than regular note pad.
